When further dates for Tales from The Six Feet Under Club Tour were announced I thought it would be a special thing to make Patreon’s third anniversary tour at Leeuwarden, which also happened to be on Charlotte’s birthday.  

It also meant the opportunity to pay a  visit to Leeuwarden, a city in the North of the Netherlands, a couple of hours by train from Amsterdam airport. 

I travelled there a day earlier and had the chance to meet a few of the people in the community as well as having a good walk around.  

To celebrate the Patreon’s anniversary, Charlotte organised to have the venue opened earlier for patrons.  We had the opportunity to have a little celebration including a quiz, cocktails, six feet under cupcakes and the opportunity to try on the specs used on Afkicken video as well as taking photos on a cutout inspired by the music video.  

Was great to meet some of the people who were there in October the year before as well as seeing new faces.

Neushoorm is a venue smaller than the one in Utrecht.  Staging was scaled down to fit but the care for detail was the same as for the gig at the Tivoli.  

Blackbriar was the perfect act to open.  Very energetic and engaging on stage.  Zora’s voice is incredible, combined with the music it creates an eerie mood, like music coming from the ultratomb.  They definitely won me over.

I loved every minute of this concert.  There was a lot of emotion in the air.  It marked how Patreon project had come along.

Special mention to FSU.  This time I feel the arrangement allows for Charlotte’s voice to stand out a lot more, even in a low register, which we are not very used to hearing from her.

Also loved her performance of A Million Lives, especially when she belted out the last part of the song.  What a voice!

The band works like a well oiled engine and they are clearly pleased to be playing together,  Sophia has fitted in perfectly.  This time I was on Otto’s side of the stage, meaning I could appreciate much more the work on the bass and Joey’s drums.  

This time we also had a performance of Combustion, like every time I have seen this live.  Timo always manages to elevate the guitar solo to new heights.

Having a smaller stage also allowed for seeing many more details.  Like the impeccable looping of the clarinet at the beginning of Victor.

Was great to see production managed to include dancers again, even in smaller numbers.  They are a fantastic addition.

There was also quite a bit of exchange between Charlotte and the audience, including quite a few ‘meows’ during the choir of Good Dog.

I love the fact that Charlotte tries to incorporate extra tunes to the setlist.  For this show we had a cover of Mary on a Cross by Zora and Charlotte which was absolutely fantastic. 

Towards the end of the show there was a nice surprise when the band suddenly started playing happy birthday whilst a slideshow secretly put together by patrons was shown on the large screen.

We had the opportunity to hangout with the band a little bit longer after the gig as they came out to say hi and have a few drinks as a little birthday and anniversary celebration.

It took me a few days to process this concert. Lots of emotions, as mentioned earlier.

I am already looking forward to more opportunities to see Charlotte live.  She has got a new album in the works and now that she is back on stages, it is being worked on as something that will be performed for audiences.  I am sure it’s going to be fantastic.
