It’s been weeks since the concert (where does time go?!) but even if I wanted to write a little review, I couldn’t find the moment because of *busy*, but also because I was a bit (read it as very) sad that it was over and writing this would be like the final closure ? So here we go, but first a disclamer! This isn’t really a review but a How I lived it kind of thing.
We had been planning and preparing many things for this special concert – Charlotte’s birthday and the 3rd Patreon Anniversary!- and when the day finally arrived it literally flew by! That week I had been very busy preparing things for the basket, like the messages, mugs and slippers (aka Frank’s feet) and it was a lot of fun and a very nice warm up for the concert. But it wasn’t until we were on the road to the Netherlands that the real hype kicked in. I was also a bit nervous, hoping that everything would work out well. I always overthink and worry a lot about everything, and this time I ‘had to worry’ twice: about Charlotte’s presents and surprises, and about the little pre-party she had planned for the patrons (felt a bit like a double agent and was fun, not gonna lie haha ?). I wanted everything to be perfect and nice, as this special day deserved!
So let’s start and see how it went…
This concert was in Leeuwarden, almost the northest you can go in the NL. If you go a bit more to the north you drown ?? As Otto said after the concert, you’d think that, in a long drive from Spain, these couple of hours more wouldn’t really matter, but oh yeah they do haha. Rafa and I started driving up north already on Thursday night, so we could already sleep in France and divide a bit the ~20hours drive. On Friday we crossed almost all of France, with a lot of rain, and slept very near to the border with Belgium. Knowing we would have all those “lost” hours, I left some manual things to do (like some messages, writing down the quiz stuff…) and it was a super productive day actually!
Saturday was finally here, and we arrived in Leeuwarden around 5pm and went to the venue, with a huge basket full of lovely presents, and small as I am, they say I looked like a walking basket haha. There were already several patrons and fellow conspirators there, and we could put together the last gifts for the inspiration basket and catch up and hang out a bit. Some of them even listened to the Song of the Month there for the first time! We totally should have done a live reaction video haha
The early entrance for patrons was at 6:30pm, and Rafa and I had to get in around 6pm to talk a bit of how everything would go and help with anything they needed. The staff of the venue was super nice and helpful, although the entrance was a bit chaotic, but hey have you seen a Charlotte hangout without chaos? xD
When we entered the room where the pre-party was going to take place we saw that amazing cut-out photocall of Afkicken, the beautiful pins Charlotte had made and the tasty cupcakes! Seems like surprises would go both ways today ?
At 6.30 the doors opened for patrons, and we could hang out a bit, take pictures as Mother (including the real glasses from the music video!), play a little game including some mimics, questions and difficult lyrics haha, and just relax before the concert with the early entrance! Beardboy and Elianne were also around for a bit, and also Charlotte came to say hi for a moment in the middle of all the concert preparations.
A bit before the doors opened for everyone, we could line up to be the first to get into the venue and get the best spots!
Then Blackbriar set started, and this time I enjoyed it sooo much more! The sound was much better and their bass player was so energetic and fun to watch. Apparently his family was there, and maybe that’s why he was extra happy, or maybe he’s always like this, but it made such a difference, he really made you enjoy the performance even more.
And now the real thing we all were here for! This time I didn’t take many pictures or videos (luckily Rafa did hehe). I knew it would probably be the last time I’d see this show, so I wanted to enjoy it to the max. And oh yes I did!
As always, with the Ouverture and Claire I already got goosebumps and travelled to one of my favorite places 🙂 When Human to Ruin kicked in, I got such an adrenaline boost that didn’t go away until days later I think. Hype? A lot of hype.
This was the setlist -as I’m lazy, here’s a picture of the supercool wooden setlists!- although I had to amend a little error ? Birthday song was missing!
But hey, I just did some spoilers… so let’s get through the highlights in a bit more of detail!
Venus Rising is always one of my favorite moments during the concert. So uplifting! So beautiful with the screen behind and dancers!
In this concert, one special moment was, obviously, Mary on a Cross, when Zora joined the stage (although for a moment it looked like she didn’t want to come out haha) and we could enjoy an amazing live version of this cover! Their voices sound really well together, and with the whole band it sounded fantastic!
Fast-forward to the “last song” Soft Revolution, that always has my special mention, because it deserves it! The singing along, the beautiful lyrics, the looping and Timo’s solo. I want to live it again already!
Then everyone left the stage, and as our partner in crime Elianne had told us, when they’d come back for Against All Odds, Timo and Otto would play happy birthday instead. So the first row people were very busy getting our hats and paper tongues ready ?
Then the boys and Charlotte appeared, and we all were very happy about it, but maybe for reasons Charlotte didn’t know…yet ? So they get ready and… BOOM not Against All Odds plays. We all put our birthday hats on and started singing Happy Birthday very loudly (and probably not too in tune but who cares!). Charlotte was clearly surprised, and we had to tell her to turn around so she saw another surprise: Masterpiece’s pictureS (ok, and very important, also cats, dogs and frogs) wishing her Happy birthday!
It was a wholesome moment, pure happiness and joy, and also chaos with the paper tongues “beautiful” sound haha

When we all came back to reality somehow, including Charlotte, they really played Against All Odds, and afterwards the real ending of the show arrived with All U Are ❤️❤️ Always another highlight for me, I want to marry this song and live forever and get old together with it!
And this time there were huge BALLOONS thanks to Elianne, that made it even more magical! I got hit by one of them on my head but who cares haha it was great fun, although maybe Charlotte had to be more alert than she would have wished while singing her heart out, in case one balloon went her way ? But still, so worth it ?

It was a bit bittersweet, and I might have cried a bit… because now this was really the end, and there was no next Tales from Six Feet Under concert. Post-concert blues hit very hard this time, and for a long time.
BUT let’s not get sad because the best thing of this birthday concert was that when one good thing was over, another one was about to happen! ? So first of all we went to have a themed and yummy Six Feet Under cocktails, and then secret agent Elianne told us Charlotte would be out in the entrance in a moment and Elianne would be bringing the CAKE!
And this was another cute and fun moment, singing together Happy Birthday again, and sharing a delicious (and with flowers!) cake. After some greetings and signing and pictures, we gave her the last but not least surprise, the inspiration basket! I didn’t remember to take a picture of/with everything in it, but it was full of tasty, fun, useful and beautiful stuff.

Well, what can I say… even weeks after this concert? Party? Cult meeting? Writing this still brings the biggest smile on my face and makes my heart melt a bit. So thank you to Charlotte, all the band, Beardboy, Felicity, ELIANNE, all the patrons and friends (the ones who were there but also the ones who participated on the surprises and the ones who were there in spirit!) and everyone who made it happen, I will never forget this day! ❤️
