Hello again my lovely Acorns. I had a busy week with concerts, because I am coming to you with a review of my third concert within 7 days. Once again, this is for fun. Normally I already struggle with writing, but with this review it’s even worse. I couldn’t even sleep after the concert, because I was so hyped. So I still have a bit of sleep deprivation.

The memories from the show in Utrecht are still some of my favourite, so I was ready to make more in Weert.

This time I went to the one and only Tales From Six Feet Under Concert from Charlotte Wessels. You may or may not know her. My night was already perfect, before it even began because I won the merch package.

It was an awful, awful night financially; because I had to buy another ticket and book a hotel in Breda so I can also see the last show.

I hereby want to offer my most sincerest apologies to anyone who has taken a video and was standing near me. I watched back my videos, and especially during Good Dog my own ears started bleeding from hearing myself ‘sing’ the awoos.

Are we sure the concert didn’t last for only 5 minutes? Because it sure feels that way.

I also think I accidentally swapped ages with someone else, because directly after the concert and the entire Sunday after that I felt 80 years old instead of my youthful 21. Everything hurt. And I mean literally Everything.

So now a little bit about the concert itself. I really don’t know where to begin, or even what to say.

I was completely in front. I had to watch out for Charlotte’s boot, because otherwise I would be stomped right in the middle of my forehead. So I had an amazing view, since it wasn’t being blocked by a 2 meter tall Dutchie. I’m not even exaggerating when I say it was a life changing experience. I was a bit nervous because what if Charlotte wasn’t as good as I remembered? (I know: blasphemy, but I’m just a really good pessimist), and also: what if my mother would say to me that she didn’t like it? I still had to live in the same home, if that would happen. But Charlotte was somehow even better. My brain is really struggling to put thoughts into words.

The stage decoration was stunning again: the red curtains and the round thing in the middle were back again. So were the dancers, who made it even better. The sound felt really good to me. And Charlotte’s stage presence and voice; OH MY GOD. I can’t even write about it.

The setlist too: chefs kiss

Since nobody asked I will give the answer of my favourite (non-Patreon exclusive) songs:

  • Human to Ruin
  • Superhuman
  • Afkicken
  • Venus Rising
  • Good Dog
  • Toxic
  • Alles Wat ik Wil
  • A Million Lives
  • FSU 2020
  • The Phantom Touch
  • Soft Revolution
  • The Final Roadtrip
  • Against All Odds

And yes, this is nearly the entire setlist.

The little ‘break’ with Combustion was just as amazing as last time in Utrecht.

And the song ‘Alles Wat Ik Wil’ with Aafke Romeijn, which had its live debut in Weert, was really beautiful.

Question for Charlotte’s next hangout: how does it feel to only have produced absolute bangers?

I can’t wait to go again in Breda, and hopefully many more concerts after that!

Mama Squirrel reviews a bit too:

I got dragged along by my daughter and I didn’t know a single song about Charlotte. I went into it with an open mind.

What did I think of Charlotte?

I was impressed that she didn’t only sing, but also played the clarinet and used/played the loopers herself.

She has a very nice voice to listen to; and she also varied a lot in her voice. High notes, low notes.

It was not just a concert, but a whole show. The dancers and the round Thing with the dancer behind it were very impressive.

Her songs are all so different, that there are always songs you like. It was nice that they varied, so it didn’t feel like you were listening to the same thing over and over.

She also made a lot of contact with the audience and she was very enthusiastic herself, which made me enthusiastic too. It was very noticeable that she and her fans have a special connection.

I was also very, very impressed with the instrumental part. Without the instrumentals, the concert wouldn’t be able to exist, so a shoutout to them!

I will now listen to my daughter and start listening to the CD that I very kindly received from my daughter.
